description: This paper examines the portrayals of individuals with disabilities on four different television shows before and after the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990. The shows were chosen based on their popularity at the time of airing and the representation of at least one main character with a physical disability. The four shows being analyzed are Ironside (1967-1975), Breaking Bad (2008-2013), Glee (2009-present), and Game of Thrones (2011-present). From these shows, six characters with physical disabilities were found to have prominent roles, including Robert T. Ironside (Ironside), Hank Schrader and Walter White, Jr. (Breaking Bad), Artie Abrams (Glee), and Bran Stark and Tyrion Lannister (Game of Thrones).
